American Institute in Taiwan
Taipei Office
September 12, 2002
Effective immediately, the Department of State has
added a new requirement for F-1, J-1 and M-1 visas.
The school or institution in the United States that has
issued you an I-20, IAP-66 or DS-2019 must register you
on a web site, www.iseas.state.gov
. Visa applicants cannot access this site.
Your school or institution in the United states must
register you on this web site before we can issued a
visa. You should immediately contact your school
or institution and ask them to register you on this web
site. Your school or institution should then
e-mail AIT confirmation that you are registered using
our nonimmigrant visa address, visaniv@mail.ait.org.tw
. Once we have this e-mail confirmation, we will
finish processing your visa and it will be delivered to
you via courier service.
F-1 and M-1 applicant: Please note that if the
reporting date on your I-20 has already passed before
you enter the United States, you must carry a letter
with you from your school that explains you are allowed
to start studying after the reporting date listed on the
I-20.
Sincerely,
Nonimmigrant Visa Unit
